Health Psychologists can apply behaviour change techniques to any health-related behaviour for example giving up smoking, managing long-term conditions, changing the mind-set around eating habits and strategies to help maintain your weight.

To begin with I go through an information gathering stage to understand exactly what the issues/goals you need to address are.

  • Then identify some specific symptoms or behaviours to create change
  • Work together to develop some coping strategies to help you with the new behaviour change
  • Working on your thoughts, feelings and attitudes towards your health behaviour or ill-health
  • Behavioural change interventions
  • Maintenance of behaviour change
